Steven Bluman

rider & trainer

Steven Bluman trains many of Bluman Equestrian’s most advanced junior and amateur athletes; won his first FEI Grand Prix in 2024; and plays a key role in the development of Bluman Equestrian’s young horses.

“We see our riders as more ‘students’ than ‘clients,’ because at one point, we were students. What we learn from the sport and from our trainers make all the difference.
— Steven Bluman

He began riding as a result of watching his cousins and his older brother, Daniel. Following his family into the sport professionally, he has found success both in and out of the saddle.

“When I started riding, I started because I loved the horse as an animal. I didn’t know anything about competition or high level sport. As I grew more passionate about it, I understood that in order to be successful, I had to learn from the ground, up,” Steven says. “The ground, in our case is being able to properly manage your horses, from what they eat to what their weekly plan is. The most important part of that weekly plan is the flatwork. Without proper flatwork, it’s impossible for a horse to perform at its best. Flatwork is the foundation of our sport.”

The way Steven leads his string of horses and team members is with close attention to management and horsemanship, since he believes it is a requirement, no matter the level to which you aspire.

Steven also has great entrepreneurial spirit, founding the highly innovative mobile app, Equo (www.ridewithequo.com). Equo is an accessible tool to find safe and reliable transportation solutions for horses across North America.
